Alexis Cruz (born September 29, 1974) is an American actor best known for his roles in Touched by an Angel and Stargate and Stargate SG-1 as Rafael and Skaara, respectively. Cruz is of Puerto Rican ancestry and was born in The Bronx, New York. Julia, his mother, was a composer. He is now based in Los Angeles. He began his acting career when he was nine years old. However, when he was 13, while auditioned for a part, the director told him he was a terrible actor, prompting him to enrol at the Fame School for Performing Arts the next year. He majored in Independent Technical Theatre at Boston University. Cruz starred with James Woods and Jeri Ryan in the legal drama Shark as assistant D.A. Martin Allende. Cruz portrayed Herman Santiago, one of the founding members of the rock and roll group the “Teenagers,” in the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love.
